Fun ride around porridge pots!
As promised, to keep up with the blog here's a quick update.
Today Paul and I went riding around one of our favourite spots we like to ride known as 'Porridge Pots'.
We both cycled from our homes which meant I had an addition 6 miles there, and Paul had an addition 15 miles each way!
The sun was out all day again today, and we were out during golden hour. It was beautiful.
We took a reverse route to what we'd normally do, which meant starting off along the canal, and then leading into the forest afterwards.
The ground was just about perfect. It had rained yesterday, so there were some slightly muddy parts, but nothing compared to the winter. And the clean smell of the rain being soaked up in the forest was so refreshing.
Halfway round we found some absolutely stunning, flowy, trails that felt like they never ended. If it was due to the fact that we had to get back early, we were going to do them again. Next time I'll take my GoPro for some footage of them.
Just before these sweet trails, however, there was inevitably a climb. The first time we took a more shallow route around - a fun, somewhat technical climb. But when we were contemplating doing it again, we thought we'd try the difficult one! Just before we did, we scoffed some amazing banana cake that April made for us - this thing is magic and gives you heaps of energy.
All fueled up (and bitten to death by nats) we set off up the hill. Here's paul getting halfway up. For the record, I made it all the way! (I don't get to brag like this often, it's usually the other way around).
As I mentioned, we had to get back before dark as I realised (on my way to meet Paul) that my lights were still on charge at home.
Although it wasn't a mega long ride, it was great fun nonetheless and I look forward to our next big ride which will be across the North Downs for an Evans RideIT event.
Coming Soon TM.
